About Yamamoto

WE KNOW THAT WITHIN THE NEXT DECADE, 4.6 MILLION MANUFACTURING JOBS WILL BE NEEDED. 2.4 MILLION WILL GO UNFILLED DUE TO THE SKILLS GAP.

A job in manufacturing is hands-on, solution driven, and relying more on technology every day. Creating innovative products from raw materials is meaningful, gratifying work. The ideal candidate possesses intellectual dexterity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to meet the needs of emerging technologies. The manufacturing industry needs motivated leaders to drive progress and help our nation’s economy thrive globally.

That’s where we come in. Yamamoto is a recruiting startup company and the first of its kind. We are the ONLY local recruiting company that focuses strictly on high-level, hands on and technical manufacturing positions. We are dedicated to making sure the industry continues to grow by advocating for the smart opportunities that exist in manufacturing. To do this, our services are highly specialized. Manufacturing is all we do. We know the industry inside and out and that helps us provide top notch, focused work.

We are based in Philadelphia, PA and serve the local metropolitan area. Our company was founded by Chon and Katie Yamamoto. They are motivated by their passion to help others and spread word about the next Golden Age of American Manufacturing.

We’re advocates first and recruiters second.

We Promise:

  • To tell the truth.

  • To care about people.

  • To cause a disruption.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple - to get young people involved in manufacturing. We aim to inspire and raise awareness about the thriving opportunities that exist within manufacturing, and to provide consulting services for our clients as we recruit the next generation of manufacturers.

Our Vision

To create a future where “skilled trades” are viewed as smart trades, and the perceived value of a career in manufacturing is equivalent to that of doctors and lawyers.

Our Team

The Yamamoto Industry Experts

Chon Yamamoto

CEO, Owner

Chon Yamamoto wanted to be an engineer recruiter, but fell in love with the forthright nature of manufacturing. He quickly became an advocate for the industry. For 13 years, Chon has been a manufacturing recruiter in the Philadelphia area, receiving recognition by industry leaders for his expertise regarding manufacturing skill sets. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Chon moved to Philadelphia when he was 18 and never looked back. His passion for helping others and sticking up for the little guy drives his goal to spread awareness about the job opportunities in manufacturing. He is YAMAMOTO’s fearless leader, and is allergic to mostly everything.

Katie Yamamoto

Vice President

Katie Yamamoto started her career in biomedical research after double majoring in Integrative Biology and Human Rights Studies at UC Berkeley. Katie received her master’s in biomedical sciences and went on to work in healthcare marketing. She was working for Johnson & Johnson in medical device sales when her husband, Chon, was ready to launch Yamamoto. Through her solution-driven attitude and infectious positivity, Katie left J&J to become co-founder, Vice President and overall heart and soul of Yamamoto. Katie’s fun facts are she loved playing ultimate frisbee in college, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, and is neutral about cilantro.

Jahmeir Reed

Marketing Intern

Jahmeir Reed comes from the City Of Brotherly Love and is currently schooling at the California University of Pennsylvania. In high school, Jahmeir would design and sell T-shirts on social media, but ultimately decided to become a Computer engineer due to the lack of creativity majors offered at school. After three semesters as an engineering major, he decided to switch his major to Digital Media Technology. Over the course of his studies, Jahmeir learned to use Adobe Cloud applications, allowing him to grow his design and photography capabilities. Before Yamamoto, Jahmeir interned at Easy Event Planning as a marketing intern where he wrote blogs and worked with their social media team.
